Understanding verification labels
What each label on a listing means, and what it does not mean.
- Imported Listing — the organization came from a directory or research file. Nobody has yet confirmed the details with the organization itself. Treat meeting details as unconfirmed.
- Website Confirmed — the website we have for the organization answers and identifies it. Meeting and event details have still not been confirmed with a person.
- Organization Confirmed — an authorized representative has confirmed the listing, or an editor confirmed it from a first-party source (the organization's own site or a direct reply).
- Current Events Confirmed — the organization's calendar has been confirmed for the current season. This is the label a claimed, maintained page carries.
- Needs Update — something is known to be out of date or unreachable, and is waiting for confirmation.
- Inactive or Closed — we have direct evidence (an announcement, a reply from an officer) that the organization has disbanded or the site has closed. A dead website on its own never produces this label.
Worth knowing
- Every label shows the date it was set. Labels are reviewed at least once a year.
- Pages built from an official federal or state source carry that source's name and the date the data was last refreshed.
