About
About Civil War Events
CivilWarEvents.com is the national calendar published by Historical Publications LLC — the publisher of Civil War News and Military Antique Collector — listing Civil War shows, tours, reenactments, seminars, auctions, and commemorations across the United States.
Our purpose
Anyone who follows this field knows the problem. A regional show is announced in a newsletter, a battlefield tour fills up through a mailing list, a museum posts a lecture to one social page, and a reenactment is passed along by word of mouth. There has never been one dependable place to look.
CivilWarEvents.com exists to be that place. It lists Civil War shows, military antique shows, reenactments, living history programs, battlefield tours, seminars, lectures, conferences, museum programs, preservation events, auctions, gun shows with significant Civil War content, book signings, educational programs, and commemorations — nationwide, in one calendar, free to browse and free to be listed in.
How the listings are compiled
Events come from promoters, museums, preservation organizations, auction houses, and dealers, and from the editorial desks of Civil War News and Military Antique Collector. Every submission is read by an editor before it appears. Nothing is published automatically.
We publish what the organizer supplies. Where a detail is missing — hours not yet set, admission not announced, no street address — the listing says so rather than filling the gap with a guess. A listing that has been checked against the organizer carries a “last verified” date.
One record, two sites
An event entered here also appears on CivilWarDealers.com, drawn from the same record through a shared events API. Promoters submit once; corrections propagate to both sites the moment they are made.
Who publishes this
Historical Publications LLC of Blue Ridge, Georgia, founded by Jack W. Melton, Jr., publishes Civil War News, Military Antique Collector, and The Rampant Colt, the official publication of the Colt Collectors Association. The company has served this field since 2000.
Corrections
If a date has moved, a show has been cancelled, or a listing carries an error, tell us and we will fix it. Accuracy in this calendar matters more than volume — people plan long drives around it.
