About this event
A Civil War reenactment and living history event at Janney Furnace Park, on the ground where a small Confederate cavalry force under General James H. Clanton met the far larger Union cavalry column of General Lovell H. Rousseau on July 14, 1864, during Rousseau's raid through north Alabama. The park surrounds the fifty-foot stone furnace Alfred Janney built in 1863 to make pig iron.
Battles take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Come out and tour the Civil War camps, visit the sutlers, and enjoy the battle. The organizers have also announced live music and a bounce house for children.
