 ed with the dead from both armies. Usually\, a battle’s victor takes on 
 the responsibility of burying the dead\, but there was little time to do
  so with another battle looming soon at Chattanooga. Partially buried co
 rpses laid on the ground for weeks and months. So\, who picked up all th
 e bodies scattered throughout the fields and forests of Chickamauga Batt
 lefield? This task was monumental and horrible to say the least. Come an
